RECENT NEWS

A WARNING by Anonymous (Hachette Audio)
In late October I was asked by Hachette Audio if I would, on extremely short notice, narrate a hush-hush book. Without knowing what it was, I agreed. It wasn't until the day before I began recording that I learned what the book was and had the chance to read it.  I kept the news under my fedora and, after breaking all previous records for pre-orders in the publisher's history(!), A WARNING was released on 11/19 and immediately shot to the top of numerous bestseller lists including the NY Times and Audible.com). The internet is buzzing with speculation as to who the author is — but I haven't got a clue!
Update: AudioFile Magazine just awarded the recording an Earphones award! Read the full review here.

THE WASTE LAND & PRUFROCK AND OTHER OBSERVATIONS by T. S. Eliot (Amazon Classics)
I was asked by Brilliance Audio to climb the mountain that is T.S. Eliot's THE WASTE LAND.  And THE LOVE SONG OF J. ALFRED PRUFROCK.  And about a dozen other poems by the great poet, all released Thanksgiving week from Amazon Classics.

THE SPECIAL COUNSEL: The Mueller Report Retold by Mark Caro (Hachette Audio)
And, in a similar vein to A WARNING, I was also hired to narrate Mark Caro's THE SPECIAL COUNSEL, which, while retaining all the facts, is a fictionalized retelling of the Mueller Report from Mueller's point of view. Out December 10 from Hachette Audio.

THE MYSTERIES OF SOLDIERS GROVE by Paul Zimmer (Blackstone Publishing)
"A superior love story between two senior citizens." — Publishers Weekly (starred review).

As if to balance all this heavy material, I had the distinct pleasure of teaming with the X-cellent Xe Sands to co-narrate a beautifully-written romantic thriller by poet Paul Zimmer, THE MYSTERIES OF SOLDIERS GROVE, for Blackstone Audio. It was a chance for me to sink deep into a quirky, fragile, elderly character who has never left the Driftless Hills of Iowa until he is kidnapped by a brutal drifter and, after his escape, meets a strong-willed, independent widow who moves into the assisted-living facility where he resides. I hope it reaches the wide audience it deserves... click in the playlist above to hear a sample!
